Everything needed to build the Centauri ecosystem, broken out by the two systems that make it up: the quadcopter itself and the pilot's transmitter.

Core Electronics and Propulsion

3D-Printed Airframe

The complete airframe design files are available on Thingiverse. This uses approximately 164 g of PLA at 30% infill.

  • 1x lower plate
  • 1x upper plate
  • 4x arms
  • 1x MPU-6050 frame
  • 1x LM2596 frame
  • 1x GoPro mount (if mounting camera)
  • Antenna-mast components (3 pieces)

Mounting Hardware

Misc. hardware for assembling the quadcopter that you may already have lying around, and if not, can purchase at any local store.

  • Screws
    • M3 Screw Assortment Kit
      • 4x M3×30mm - securing the 4 arms to the main body
      • 4x M3×8mm - securing motors (only if not included with motors)
      • 4x M3×8mm - securing GoPro mount to upper plate
      • 4x M3×12mm - securing MPU-6050 frame
      • 2x M3×8mm - securing LM2596 into its frame
      • 2x M3×12mm - securing LM2596 frame to body
      • 2x M3×16mm - antenna mast (bottom-to-arm and coupler-to-mast-top)
      • 3x M3×12mm - securing antenna base into mast coupler
    • M2*8mm pack
      • 4x M2×8mm - securing RPi Pico
  • 4-inch zip tie pack (for strapping down components/wires)
  • Double-sided foam tape for vibration-isolating the IMU

Optional FPV Equipment

You can fly Centauri by eye (without any onboard cameras) if you want, and I did for a while! But if you want a "first person" perspective through an FPV monitor or goggles, you'll need these.

Miscellaneous

There is a good chance you have these on hand. But if not, here's what you'll need to get the work done and what I recommend.

  • 1x Balance charger - safely charges the LiPo battery, balancing voltage across its individual cells
  • 1x Soldering iron - for soldering all of the electrical connections throughout the build
